A Talented Fashion Feature – Vol. 4

Well,

Here is the next round. This week I bring you two dudes who’s styles are very recognizable, original, and intangible. They kill it when they bring out the gem threads here at Carolina’s campus, and now you all get an inside look!

First up is the roomie, business guru himself….

Montrell C. – UNC ’16 and recent member of @GroundBreakingU

– Currently, what are your favorite brand lines, or overall brands? (2-3 max please)

Although choosing two particular brands is a bit complicated, I would have to say my favorite two brands at the moment are Givenchy and Nike.

-Why these specific brands? (you don’t have to specify all, maybe just your favorite one etc.) How did you come across this line/brand?

I fell in love with everything Nike at a very young age. Since before I was walking, Nike was basically all I knew. Whenever I played a sport my equipment had to be Nike, Nike manufactured almost every shoe I’ve purchased, and all my athletic apparel is Nike. All my backpacks have even been Nike since I can remember. Givenchy began to catch my attention last year after I saw Kanye and Chris Brown in the Givenchy Shark tee. Although it is not the most wallet-friendly brand, Givenchy is definitely an eye catcher.

-Who/what influences your style? Was it a celebrity? Commercial? Media?

My style comes primarily from the celebrities I look up to. Two celebrities in particular that I pay close attention to when it comes to fashion are Wale and Jay-Z. These two artists have to very diverse styles, but are both very fashion forward.

Evolving

– In your eyes, what is trendy now, what is no longer trendy?

Recently, baseball tees and cutoff pants have became the new thing. I personally love baseball tees, but can’t see myself wearing cutoff pants. On the other side Polo is slowly beginning to disappear as it’s done time and time again, although I give it a few years before it makes a strong comeback.

Now that we took a look at a little flashy, lets see yet another feature guest kill the clean, original, simple look.

Ronin Division, Diamond Supply, and Crooks & Castles.

-Why these specific brands? (you don’t have to specify all, maybe just your favorite one etc.) How did you come across this line/brand?

Ronin Division is still a really small brand. Their designs are really simple, which I love, as well as being centered around samurai themes. Their clothes are also pretty high quality for the $30 price tag.

– How did you come across this line/brand?

I actually stumbled across it during a google search for twitter backgrounds. One of their jackets came up and I did a little more digging, and fell in love with their brand from the entrance to their website.

-Who/what influences your style? Was it a celebrity? Commercial? Media?

I definitely get a lot of my style from Tumblr,  although I much prefer the simple look; a simple t-shirt, some cargo shorts, and some kicks is perfection. I also like a lot of celebrities’ styles, barring the designer clothes. Jay-Z’s look is something I strive for, although I also like some of Kanye’s outfits, as well as artists like J. Cole and Kendrick.

Simple.

– In your eyes, what is trendy now, what is no longer trendy?

Trendy for me right now is all in the overall look. A lot of people right now are into wearing a plethora of different colors and patterns, accented with as many accessories as possible. Even though it doesn’t quite fit my style, more is definitely more now. I can’t exactly speak on what isn’t trendy in America anymore, during that time I was home in The Bahamas, where we have a vastly different dress code.

So there you have it! These two dudes can be found on UNC’s campus killin’ it from time to time. Remember if you want to be featured email me at mannya@hitmgroup.com!

Underpromising and overdelivering,

-The Talent
